Kids love to play and have lots of free time on their hands, but there are still times when you can’t get them to stop playing.
With so much free time, we’ve rounded up the best ways to keep them entertained without spending a dime on a new toy.
1.
Keep your kids on the couch The couch is often a better place to keep a toddler occupied than the living room, so don’t leave them in a car or apartment for too long.
The best place to do this is with a child-friendly seat, where they can sit with a book and watch cartoons or movies.
2.
Use a game to distract them When it comes to distractions, there’s one that stands out above the rest.
While playing a video game, you can keep them engaged by having them take turns taking a hit, or a run, or jumping.
3.
Make sure your kid has a lot of toys to play with There’s nothing worse than your kid getting lost in the house and finding a pile of toys.
You can use this as a way to distract your child and get them out of your house, but if you’re not careful, the pile of goodies could be a lot more than they’re used to. 4.
Give them toys to chew on with a bowl and spoon These two toys can keep your kid entertained with a spoon and a bowl.
Both have a removable mouthpiece, so they can be used to chew something for free, too.
5.
Make a video chat program for your child to keep tabs on you It’s never a bad idea to keep an eye on your kids if you haven’t been spending time with them.
If you’re using Skype or a similar app, you could record them chatting and keep them up-to-date on what they’re doing.
You could also try using a video-chat bot to help you monitor your child’s activity on your computer.
6.
Set aside time to play together with your child If your child is a bit more outgoing than most, a friend can help them to relax when they’re away from you.
This can be a great way to keep things interesting and keep your child entertained.
7.
Take a break for a while with them When you have lots and lots of time on your hands, it can be hard to find the time to get your child on a play date, but you can always give them a break and give them some time to relax.
8.
Use your smartphone to connect with your kids with the newest apps for kids The internet has gotten so fast, we might as well use the time we have to find something fun to do with our kids.
So, we thought we’d use this free time to take a break from texting and playing with them, to set up a new smartphone app for our kids that connects with their smartphones so they don’t have to wait for you.
9.
Create a new game for your kids to keep track of It’s easy to get distracted by the latest gadgets on the market.
But for kids who don’t want to spend a lot time playing games, a new video game is a great place to find a fun game they can play together.
10.
Make some new games for your family to enjoy in a fun way The internet can be pretty overwhelming, so it’s best to create a new place for your children to play games.
Whether it’s a new, different game, a game that combines multiple genres, or even a simple game, the possibilities are endless.
11.
Use an iPad to stream your kids’ video games online They don’t even have to sit in the same room as you do when you watch them play online games.
This is where you can make a big difference to the time you spend with your children.
12.
Make your child the centre of your home entertainment system When you’re watching your kids play online, it’s easy for them to get bored and want to move away.
To keep your kids entertained and motivated, create a simple way to make your home the center of their entertainment.
13.
Set up a free online video chat with your kid to keep in touch and talk about the latest games and videos from around the world If you want to keep your children entertained and excited, it doesn’t have a better way than an online video conference.
You won’t have your kids in your house with you, but instead they’ll be able to talk to you and their friends about any topic they want to.
You’ll have their friends and family join in on the fun.
14.
Make videos that kids can share with others When it’s time for your kid’s video conference, you don’t need to have all the fun in your room.
They can sit down with a friend and share their favorite moments, such as a time they met someone cool, a story from their favorite TV show or movie, or something else.
