A 15-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh has found a new love in her haircut and a new role model in the world of fashion.
A girl from the village of Talaat in Uttarakhand, Raju Bhati, said she started dressing as a pixie in March 2016.
She had long wanted to wear a wig, but did not think she would ever look as stunning as she does now.
“I was obsessed with my hair and my look was so different to the girls at my school.
But I couldn’t do anything about it.
So I went to a shop and got a haircut for free,” she told NDTV.
Raju, who is currently studying in a local college, said her parents, who are also students in the same school, supported her.
“My parents also made me an offer from a designer.
He was offering me a one-day experience at his shop.
I decided to accept the offer and I went for a haircut in the shop.
It was a beautiful experience.
I thought it was really special,” she said.
Raji, who has the perfect moustache, said there were no other pixie girls around.
She started dressing in her hair and makeup and made friends with some boys in the village.
“We would all go to the local school, so it was easy for me to start dressing up as a girl and get into a social group.
It made me feel good,” she added.
She said she was attracted to the way she looked.
“I liked how the girls around me were all in their school uniform.
The boys wore a long skirt, a white shirt and a pair of pants,” she explained.
Raja has decided to follow in the footsteps of her classmates and take up a new job.
“Now, I am doing my school work.
I am taking a course in an engineering course at my college and I am also looking to get a degree in engineering,” she clarified.
Randi Singh, a fashion student at a local school in Bihar, too has decided her career is not about her hairstyle, but her personality.
“It was a tough decision to choose my career path but I decided I would like to pursue fashion and make a name for myself.
I have decided to be a designer, so I have started a brand in my name.
I want to make a mark in the fashion industry and get more attention from the fashion world,” she shared.
