A 31-year-old man has been charged in connection with the deadly crash of a car that struck a tractor-trailer, killing four children and injuring three others in eastern Tennessee.
Investigators say Brandon Lacy was driving his 2005 Honda Civic south on Interstate 75 on Sunday afternoon when he struck a median in front of a truck that was transporting hay.
Lacy then crashed into the back of the truck, where he struck another tractor-tractor before crashing into a guardrail and hitting a guard rail that caught fire.
Lacy was taken to a hospital and died.
The vehicle and tractor- trailer were both unoccupied.
Three children ages 4 to 12, a 4-year old boy and an 8-year, 9-month-old boy were among the four killed.
All of the other children were injured.
The 4-month old boy is still hospitalized.
Police say Lacy had a warrant out for his arrest for aggravated assault and child abuse in Tennessee.
Investigators believe he also may have a warrant in Tennessee for reckless endangerment.
Investigators said Lacy’s wife was a passenger in the vehicle.
He was not injured.
